Ravenglass Sunset.
The setting sun over the estuary at Ravenglass is a sight not to be missed. The stunning reflections in the water and the boats silhouetted against the low sun create a mood of peace and calm at the end of a long day in this Cumbria village.

Ravenglass, Cumbria, England.
Ravenglass is the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park. The village is perched on the edge of the estuary of three rivers, the Esk, Irt and Mite. Ravenglass with its Roman fort is the most westerly point of the Roman Frontier.

The Roman Bath House, Ravenglass, Cumbria.
The walls of the Bath House are the only visible part of Hadrian’s Fort at Ravenglass. The Fort here is the most southerly fort built to protect Hadrian’s Wall. These walls are the tallest standing Roman remains in Northern England.

Ravenglass at Low Tide.
The evening sunlight gives a warm glow to the village. At low tide you can wander among the boats and look back at the village clinging to the side of the estuary. Ravenglass is the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park. It is where the fells meet the Irish Sea.

Boot is a pretty hamlet in the Eskdale valley in the Western Lake District.
The parish church of St. Catherine’s is on the banks of the river.
Boot is also the terminus of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.

St. Bees Head, Cumbria, England.
The headland at St. Bees is a prominent landmark on the west Cumbrian coast. From the top there are lovely views along the Irish Sea coast. There is a long sandy beach to enjoy on a sunny day.
