The Old Butchers Shop Gift & Craft Centre has been established in the picturesque village of Ravenglass since 1998.
The gift shop and our other business, Lakeland Childrens Books, are both family run. We pride ourselves in customer care and providing a wide range of gifts and crafts to suit most tastes.
We are situated in the heart of Ravenglass on Cumbria's west coast, close to Eskdale and Wasdale. The village, which is the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park, dates back to before Roman times. It was once the busiest port in Cumberland and a Fort was built here to protect Hadrian’s Western Frontier. The Bath House still stands today. Nowadays the only invaders are tourists visiting the valleys and the attractions at Muncaster and the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
As our name suggests, the gift and craft centre was until the 1980's a butchers shop selling locally produced meat and making the world famous Cumberland sausage. Some of the old iron meat hooks are still in the walls of the shop.
The Old Butchers Shop Gift & Craft Centre no longer sells meat but we think you will like the many and varied gifts and crafts we have to offer our customers.
We hope you enjoy exploring this site and find something you fancy and maybe we will see you in Ravenglass one day soon.
